Hi, I'm Ligaya Caballes.

A Creative & Storyteller

I'm a Filipina woman of Akeanon and Tagalog Mindoreño descent based on Long Island, New York. I have a passion for travel, telling stories, researching the pre-colonial history, culture, beliefs, and practices of the Philippines, and capturing photos.

I primarily do portraits, engagements, and weddings. I also take a lot of landscape and street photography, particularly when I travel. To me, as someone who is a creative and visual learner, the images that we take is just another way of telling a story.

In my free time, I love to read, catch up on anime and manga, admire the herbs, flowers, and veggies in my garden, and go on walks in the forest or beach. I have a love for tattoo's, both traditional and artistic, and I'm currently a student in pre-colonial Filipino handtapped tattooing.

Since 2012, I have been blogging and talking about pre-colonial Filipino history, culture, folklore, traditions, and mythologies. As a Filipino blogger, I'm known as The Pinay Writer and previously ran the Pinoy-Culture and Diwatahan blogs on Tumblr.

Combining both of my passions, as a researcher and cultural advocate of our pre-colonial traditions and practices, and as a creative, artist, and photographer, I visualize the concepts in my head to create portraits that would make our ancestors proud.
